Marriages & Pre-Marriage Education Courses

The cultural reality of marriage and its celebration is rapidly changing in society. But for baptised Catholics marriage is one of the seven sacraments in which the Spirit of the Risen Lord is powerfully present.

A valid Catholic marriage in the eyes of the Church involves being married before a priest in a Catholic Church or Chapel. Deviation from this norm requires special permission.

Any Catholic is very welcome to use OLA Church for their marriage celebration. If you would like Fr Peter to be the celebrant please make contact with him to make a booking. Six months’ notice or longer would be appreciated. The church is available free of charge to any parishioner who contributes financially to the upkeep of the parish. Otherwise a fee of $200 is charged for the hire and use of the Church. Offering a separate stole fee (donation) to the priest celebrant is also normal Catholic practice.

Pre-Marriage Education Courses

The parish offers a pre-marriage education program for couples intending to marry. The program aims to provide couples with a forum to reflect on their options for a commitment to marriage.

The program is run by married couples. A maximum number of 6 couples can attend each course. The program is usually run over four Monday evenings.
